In a new step to
open-mindedness, Libya has yesterday signed an agreement with
a Lebanese businessman to organize the upcoming event of Miss
Internet, according to Asharq al Awsat newspaper.
The
son of Libyan President, Saiful Islam al Gaddafi, has backed
the idea of organizing the second Miss Internet event, saying
that he welcomes any step toward open-mindedness. “Islamic
teachings and traditions will be taken into consideration
before anything else,” the president’s son has said,
explaining that the 25 participants, to be visiting Libya for
11 days next month, will only appear in decent cloths.
Saiful Islam, who heads the Gaddafi International
Charity Foundation, got encouraged after the two Lebanese
businessmen, Omar and Waleed Harfoush, suggested the idea.
“This event will boost the tourism sector in Libya and will
reflect the democracy the Republic always reflects,” Saiful
Islam said.
The two brothers, who own the “SuperNova”
channel in Kiev-Ukraine, were invited by Saiful Islam to visit
Libya in order to meet with Libyan TV officials, who will be
organizing the event in cooperation with other Private sector
companies.
The event, to be held next month, will be
choosing one of a 25 participants from all over the world to
become Miss Internet. Almost 20 million people from all the
five continents will participate in the event by voting from
their computers to choose Miss Internet. -
