Miss Networld wows Gadaffi |
Lucy lands title during desert jaunt
STUNNING
model Lucy Layton, who swapped her swimsuit for a kaftan
and sashayed down a Libyan catwalk wearing a T-shirt
bearing the face of Colonel Gaddafi, has returned to
Digswell with the title of Miss Net World.
The 19-year-old, who featured in last
week’s WHT, has dined in the palace of Gaddafi’s son,
travelled on private jets complete with gold taps,
marble bathrooms and silk sheets and travelled deep into
the desert during her 10-day trip.
On meeting the infamous Gaddafi in a
Bedouin-style tent surrounded by sand dunes, she said:
“He was lovely, very sincere I think. It is difficult to
tell and you could never trust anyone there. One girl
even said he was like her granddad.
“He sort of held us under the chin, had a
look at our T-shirts and laughed, saying if only there
were more competitions like this, not war and
weapons.
“He took a shine to Miss Net America
after he made her cry by talking about the wars. He gave
her a gift as well to make up for it. It was all very
emotional.”
Lucy, who appeared on Live With...Chris
Moyles, on channel Five, on Monday night, donned a
kaftan, sari and army uniform with huge army boots to
dance in for the closing ceremony of the internet-based
beauty pageant and hopes the title will give her singing
career a boost.
“I had such an amazing time. I can’t
really believe it. I will be doing a lot of travelling
this year and I will travel to Nigeria in next November
to hand over my crown.”
See next week’s WHT for pictures of
Lucy’s Libyan adventure.
